Why does complacency set in when one's life becomes nearly fulfilled? Is it sheer laziness or is it inherent in all of us? I remember watching Oprah once, a few years ago, and she said that everyone wants to be heard. We live in a paradoxical world. We say and do things to attract attention to ourselves, and yet cringe when we get the attention we so crave for. Or yet, we are livid when the attention we get is not the exact one we were expecting. Which happens most of the time, especially in relationships. But every now and then, we receive just a sliver, just a tiny glimpse of sunshine on a cloudy day, to keep us going. That really makes me wonder - are humans naturally perverse like that, torturing themselves day in and day out just to be heard on an extremely rare occasion? Or are we just so positive and full of hope, that we live our lives chasing it down?
